Oaksey School New Space Proposal
Oaksey C of E Primary school is unveiling exciting new plans to expand their facilities by creating a new, much needed multi-purpose room. This will be utilised by the whole school community and specifically designed to be a uniquely calm and restful setting where pupils can learn, talk and work. Children often need time and space outside of the timetable and curriculum to process and gather thoughts. This in turn helps their progress and attainment as well as confidence, self-esteem and resilience. It will furthermore be used by the school SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinating Officer) to pursue her invaluable work with children away from the business of the other classrooms and corridors. In addition to this the school is very proud to provide an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) helping pupils who require support emotionally, and this unique space will provide the perfect setting for these crucial sessions. The school desperately needs this additional space to support its long-term goals and the overall vision for the school.
The cost of this hugely valuable project is approximately £100,000 and while the school will be looking at pursuing all avenues to achieve this goal, the charity representing the school Friends of Oaksey School (FoOS) will be driving the campaign through grant opportunities and traditional fundraising methods. However, we would like to take this opportunity to reach out to our wider Oaksey community to appeal to those who may be able to make a financial contribution to help enhance our school. The plans will be available to view at the front of the school for anyone who would like to see them and Headteacher, Denise Bray would be happy to answer any queries. There is also the opportunity for the new structure to be dedicated to an individual, family or business with a plaque to commemorate their commitment to this project. If you or your family are able to help us in any way please contact Jess Thomas at Friends of Oaksey School (FoOS@oaksey.wilts.sch.uk) or Denise Bray at the school directly (head@oaksey.wilts.sch.uk).
Since 1854 Oaksey School has provided a nurturing and happy environment for the children of our village and surrounding areas. Thank you for considering helping us to continue to enhance this thriving centre at the heart of our community.
